He married Hersent of France circa 870.⁽¹¹⁸⁸⁾ Hersent was born circa 850. Hersent was the daughter of Charles II The Bald Emperor of the West and Adelaide. Hersent died 877 at 27 years of age.⁽¹¹⁸⁹⁾

Regnier I Count of Hainaut and Hersent of France had the following child:

+ 295 i. Giselbert²⁵ was born circa 875.
