He married Gerberga of Lorraine circa 955. Gerberga was born circa 935. Gerberga⁽¹⁰³²⁾ was the daughter of Giselbert Duke of Lorraine and Gerberga of Saxony.

Albert I the Pious, Count of Vermandois and Gerberga of Lorraine had the following child:

+ 250 i. Herbert III²³ was born circa 955.
