Introduction

The compilation of Eastern Shore Virginia Civil War Soldier has been an ongoing project of Dr. Barnes for many years. He has been collecting newspaper obituaries and articles of Civil War Soldiers. He asked Moody Miles to put then into a database. Moody took on this project and set up a database. As time progressed Moody and I, Barry switched projects and I inherited the Civil War Project.

The gold of this project is to organize the Soldier and their information in one source. This source would give location of the data of previous works and other works that have been complete since the earlier works were published.

It has been organized in alphabetical order of the surname of the Soldier. All Soldiers from the Confederate, Union, Black and White are include. That they served is the important and only criteria.

We have utilized the works of noted author of prior works on the Eastern Shore Civil War, such as, James E. Mears and Alton Brooks Parker Barnes as the bases for this work and additional sources that would enhance the lives and sacrifices made by these Eastern Shore Soldiers.

A list of reference used follows.
